Benjamin is a certified permaculture teacher and designer, an organic farmer, writer, poet, and musician. He has studied natural building & permaculture at The Farm Ecovillage Training Center in Tennessee, urban agriculture at Growing Power in Wisconsin, and received his permaculture teacher training at the Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute in Colorado.
Ben's first job as a permaculturist was to help design and build the Dig It! Urban Farm in Lancaster, PA. He managed the farm and led youth educational programs from 2007-08.
In 2008 Ben co-facilitated the Fukuoka Farming Project at Chiques Creek Farm in Lancaster County.
In 2009, working for Greener Partners, Ben designed and managed the brand new Hillside Farm at Elwyn in Media, PA, just outside of Philadelphia. The farm featured a 40 member CSA.
Ben also served as a columnist and as the volunteer editor of the Lancaster Voice, an independent newspaper, from 2006-07.
Ben has taught workshops on permaculture, urban agriculture, composting, home-scale sustainability, Fukuoka farming, and more.
Ben's efforts in permaculture are inspired by a deep love for the natural world and a vision of a just and equitable way of life for all human beings, and for all life. His dream is to serve the Earth and its inhabitants as a humble bearer of the wisdom of positivity, love, and mutual respect.
